FlyCarian Safety & Usage Guidelines
FlyCarian Safety & Usage Guidelines
The FlyCarian AcroYoga Spotting Belt is a training aid. Read and follow these guidelines before use.
What the FlyCarian is
The FlyCarian is designed to assist qualified instructors and experienced practitioners during AcroYoga skill development — specifically Icarian training, standing acrobatics, and dynamic partner skills where an external spotting aid can reduce the risk of uncontrolled falls during skill acquisition.
What the FlyCarian is not
The FlyCarian is not:
- A fall-arrest or fall-protection system
- A safety harness under any safety standard (EN, ANSI, or similar)
- A substitute for qualified spotting by a trained instructor
- A device for aerial, rigging, suspension, or climbing use
- A guarantee of safety or injury prevention
Using the FlyCarian does not make a skill safe. It is a training aid to assist in skill development alongside appropriate instruction and progression.
Who should use the FlyCarian
The FlyCarian is intended for:
- Qualified AcroYoga instructors and experienced practitioners assisting students in skill development
- Practitioners working on new skills within their current training level
- Training environments with at least one trained person operating the belt
The FlyCarian should not be used by or with:
- Participants who have not been briefed on its use and limitations
- Practitioners attempting skills significantly beyond their current level
- Children or participants without qualified adult supervision
Pre-use inspection
Before every use, inspect the FlyCarian for:
- Damage, cuts, abrasion, or fraying on the belt material
- Deformation, corrosion, or damage to any hardware or buckles
- Correct adjustment and fit for the current user
- Security of all attachment points
Do not use the FlyCarian if any component shows signs of damage or wear. Remove it from service and contact Beyond The Mat at hello@beyondthematco.com.
Fitting and adjustment
Follow the fitting and adjustment instructions included with your FlyCarian. The belt should be snug but not restrictive, positioned correctly on the practitioner's body per the included instructions. An incorrectly fitted belt reduces its effectiveness and may cause injury.
Dual-spotter use
The FlyCarian is dual-spotter compatible. For dynamic Icarian skills and advanced progressions, two spotters operating the belt simultaneously is recommended. Establish clear communication and roles between spotters before beginning any session.
Limitations of spotting aids
No spotting aid eliminates risk. AcroYoga involves inherent physical risk from partner weight, height, and dynamic movement. The FlyCarian reduces certain categories of risk in specific training scenarios. It does not protect against all possible injury outcomes. Always train within appropriate progressions, with qualified instruction, and with appropriate rest and physical preparation.
