FlyCarian User Guide
Read this guide fully before using the FlyCarian AcroYoga Spotting Belt for the first time. Keep it accessible for anyone new to using the belt.
Read the FlyCarian Safety & Usage Guidelines before use.
1. What you received
Your FlyCarian kit includes the FlyCarian AcroYoga Spotting Belt, the supplied side straps and adjustment components, carrying bag where included, and this user guidance. Inspect all components on arrival and contact hello@beyondthematco.com if anything appears damaged or missing.
2. Pre-use inspection — every session
- Webbing and fabric — check for cuts, abrasion, fraying, burns, contamination, or discolouration.
- Stitching — check every structural seam and connection for pulled threads or separation.
- Buckles and hardware — check for deformation, corrosion, cracking, damage, or failure to close and hold correctly.
- Adjustment components — confirm they move correctly, lock securely, and have not been modified.
- After unusual loading — inspect again after any hard catch, unexpected load, impact, or event that could have damaged the belt.
If anything is damaged, unusually worn, or uncertain, remove the FlyCarian from service immediately. Do not test questionable gear by using it again.
3. Fitting the belt
The FlyCarian is worn by the practitioner being spotted.
- Position the belt as shown in the supplied fitting instructions for the skill being trained.
- Adjust it for a snug, secure fit without restricting breathing or movement.
- Confirm the belt cannot shift excessively during movement.
- Have the wearer make a small controlled movement and recheck the fit before training.
4. Spotter setup and communication
- Use trained spotters who understand the skill and the FlyCarian setup.
- Assign clear roles and grip positions before beginning.
- Agree on start, stop, and reset signals.
- Keep attention on the person being spotted throughout the attempt.
- Do not use fatigue, confidence, or equipment as a reason to skip appropriate progressions.
5. Single- and dual-spotter use
The FlyCarian can be used in single- or dual-spotter configurations where appropriate. The responsible instructor and team must decide the suitable setup based on the skill, participants, environment, and progression. Dual compatibility is not a guarantee that two spotters make a skill safe.
6. During and after a session
- Keep the training area clear of obstacles and uninvolved people.
- Stop if any participant experiences pain, fear, confusion, or unsafe fatigue.
- Inspect the belt after any hard catch or unusual load.
- Wipe it with a damp cloth after sweaty sessions and allow it to air dry fully.
- Store it dry, uncompressed, away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, and chemicals.
7. When to retire the belt
Retire the FlyCarian immediately if there are cuts, fraying, abrasion, separated stitching, damaged hardware, failed adjustment, contamination, heat or chemical damage, or any uncertainty about its condition. An unusual loading event can require retirement even when damage is not obvious.
Warranty duration does not define safe service life. Read the Two-Year Limited Warranty and the Safety Guidelines. When in doubt, remove the belt from service and contact us.
